Hello ladies!
As Terry is getting settled in as your new Superintendent, I have been getting used to being a Superintendent’s wife. I have been praying about how I can be most effective in this new role. Over the years, I have worked as a full-time medical transcriptionist/mother/ homemaker/pastor’s wife and it limited my ability to participate in many of the district functions. Therefore, I did not have the opportunity to get to know other pastor’s wives as much as I would have liked. Frankly, many times I felt very isolated and lonely. I feel that many of you may be in that place right now in your lives.
Since I am now married to a Superintendent, I anticipated that I would need to move out of my comfort zone and adjust to being an “up-front” person, although that is not my preferred place to be. However, in my prayer time I have felt that being “up front” is not my role at this time. God has impressed upon my heart that my role is to simply build relationships and be an encourager. I want to get to know each of you better one-on-one, as well as attempt to help us all become more connected with one another. The fact is, we are all just normal people (whatever normal is!) facing normal, everyday realities of life. And, ladies, we need one another!
The Word says we are to rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep but how can we do that if we don’t know each other? Just over the past few months, I have had the opportunity to get to know some of you as Terry and I have ministered at your churches and I am thrilled with the new friends I have already made! I have attached a questionnaire for you to complete to help me become better acquainted with you. To get things started, I have filled one out myself and printed it on the back of this letter.
With the advancements of technology such as Facebook, texting, etc., it has become much easier for us to connect with one another. If you have a Facebook page, I would love for you to send me a friend request. I have listed my e-mail address and cell phone number on my form (on the back of this letter) as well. If you have a need, praise report, or just want to chat, feel free to contact me. Simply put, I want to be your friend. I look forward to getting to know you and to what God has in store for the Tennessee district!
Serving the Lord with you,
Susan Bailey
